April in Paris – part II

I can’t yet really define how using a rangefinder affects my pictures. I know all of these recent images could have easily been captured using my Nikon D3,  but I think the most essential issue is not whether “I could have captured” but “would I have captured?” I know I missed a lot of great “Kodak moments” due to my inability to focus quick enough and/or not paying enough attention to composition when fighting with unfamiliar camera controls (and there aren’t that many of them either), but still I found that when using the M9 I had a certain aesthetic in mind and was giving myself time to observe my surroundings with a different attitude. We’ll see how it works out in the long run. Right now I’m lovin’ it.

  1. Mainiota, hyvin pysyy Leica näpeissä. Näistä innostuneena olen kulkenut itsekin katukuvaten – eilen sain jo kuvan valoihin pysähtyneestä autosta. Sen verran pysyin tilanteissa mukana.

  2. I’m super impressed. Leica considerations aside, these are engaging and interesting street shots. You have really captured moments – that draw the viewer in. Way to go. Would be interesting to hear how you believe the Leica contributes to your success as a street photog. But I don’t want to take anything away from the photographer – you made these happen.
